From Burnout to Breakthrough: Our Story

When we first started our beauty businesses, we had empty appointments, poor boundaries, and plenty of determination. But despite working incredibly hard, our goals always seemed just out of reach.

Like many beauty professionals, we'd mastered the treatments, but nobody had taught us how to run a profitable business.

That's when everything changed.

Instead of spending every day simply working in our businesses, we made the decision to start working on them. We invested time in learning marketing, pricing, systems, organisation, mindset and business strategy - the skills that beauty training rarely covers but every successful business owner needs.

Fortunately, we weren't starting completely from scratch. Between us, we already had experience in business, coaching, mentoring and organisation. As we applied those skills to our own beauty businesses, we began to see incredible results.

We also realised that success starts with mindset. Once we stopped doubting ourselves and started recognising our value, we attracted better clients, filled our diaries and gained the confidence to charge what we were worth.

Then something even more powerful happened - we found each other.

Living just five minutes apart, we chose collaboration over competition. By sharing ideas, supporting one another and combining our knowledge, we achieved far more together than we ever could have alone. We discovered the value of having someone who truly understands the unique challenges of running a beauty business.

Today, that partnership has grown into Nailing The Steps, a thriving community of more than 5,000 beauty professionals who are learning, growing and supporting one another every day.

We both started with modest expectations, assuming we'd be lucky to earn more than minimum wage. Today, we each earn around £900 per week, working approximately 35 hours, including admin.

We didn't achieve that through luck. We achieved it by following proven business strategies, building confidence and taking consistent action.

Now we're passionate about helping other self-employed beauty professionals do the same, without spending years figuring it all out alone.

Our mission is simple: to give you the business knowledge, support and community we wish we'd had when we started, so you can build a profitable beauty business with more confidence, more freedom and far less stress.
